The great French radio station France Inter devoted a 3-minute report on Weco in its program Spirit of Initiative by Emmanuel Moreau.

A very good report where Maxym Burel, Engineer in charge of technical at WeCo, explains how the technology of recycling excreta in treated water works.

“This morning innovative public toilets that are put on the market. Based on the principle that it is a luxury to use drinking water for the toilets, the Weco company based in St Etienne has designed toilets where, once the toilet has been flushed, everything is reused. Nothing is lost. The overall process is to use urine and feces to produce water. Weco uses a reactor in which electrodes will pass a current thanks to which will be generated derivatives of chlorinated water such as bleach, which will kill viruses, bacteria and pathogens in order to make the water usable in the flushing circuit. This water will be mainly reused for closed circuit flushing.” alt=” ” width=” 400 ” height=” 267 ” /> A very good report where Maxym Burel, Engineer in charge of technical at WeCo, explains how the technology of recycling excreta in treated water works.

“This morning innovative public toilets that are put on the market. This water will be mainly reused for closed circuit flushing.

But this technology also makes it possible to generate surplus water used for cleaning, watering plants and tertiary use, industrial applications. This water is therefore clear and smells of bleach. The toilets are fitted out in a very design way in maritime containers which thus find a second life and which have the advantage of being mobile because there is no need for a water connection. Thanks to the treatment unit in the container, there is no need for a sewer connection. You are free to move your toilets wherever you want in the city, in a public or tourist place … These toilets are operational, have been exhibited at Futur en Seine at La Villette Paris, at the international design biennial of St Etienne, at the station at the theater in Vitry-sur-Seine and two in St Etienne. The designer interior layout allowed a positive feedback from users who liked the pop atmosphere. This design appreciated by users encourages respect and the absence of degradation in the toilets. This Saint-Etienne innovation is the envy of others, such as that of the Chinese Ministry of Tourism, which awarded Weco an excellence prize. A real wastewater treatment! “
